The LS20031 is a complete GPS receiver module that is capable of 10-Hz updates. It includes an embedded antenna and highly sensitive GPS receiver. It is ideal for robotic, ham radio, and hobby navigation applications.
Manufactured by LOCOSYS, the LS20031 is a 66 channel GPS receiver that uses MediaTek's MC-1513 GPS chip set. It provides fast time-to-first-fix, rapid NMEA sentence updates, and low power consumption. It offers superb sensitivity and performance, even in urban canyon and dense foliage environment.
The default settings are 38400 baud, 10Hz update, with GGA, GSA, RMC, and VTG sentences enabled. By using the MTK command set the GPS is capable of other baud rates and host programmable features.
Note: This module does not use a connector for host connections. Instead, 5
bare solder pads are provided. Good soldering skills are needed to make the
connections. Please click the photo on the right for a larger view of the solder pads.
Please keep in mind
that these modules are easily damaged by incorrect wiring or excessive
voltage. To prevent voiding the warranty, please use extreme care when installing them in your project
