Voltage regulator kit for low current 5VDC camera power applications or for use as a general purpose regulator for a variety of electronic projects.
 
The kit includes all components and high quality printed circuit board. Intermediate soldering experience is suggested. Because one component is suface mount (SMD), this kit would be ideal as an introduction to SMT soldering.
 
Unlike traditional designs that use a LM7805 type voltage regulator IC, this one uses the LM2940 Low Drop Out (LDO) regulator IC. The main advantage of LDO operation is that it reliably supports two cell (2S) LiPO battery applications. Because it is a linear type regulator, it is free of EMI/RFI electrical noise issues that DC-DC switching regulators often cause.
 
So, if you need clean, low current 5VDC power, at low cost, then this kit is for you!
